  1. To set your global username/email configuration:
  2. Open the command line.
  3. Set your username:
  4. git config --global user.name "FIRST_NAME LAST_NAME"
  5. Set your email address:
  6. git config --global user.email "[email protected]"
  7. To set repository-specific username/email configuration:
  8. From the command line, change into the repository directory.
  9. Set your username:
  10. git config user.name "FIRST_NAME LAST_NAME"
  11. Set your email address:
  12. git config user.email "[email protected]"
  13. Verify your configuration by displaying your configuration file:
  14. cat .git/config
set username git
  1. git config --global user.name "My Name"
git change email
  1. git config --global user.email "[email protected]"
