In my 5th semester 3rd year, I got selected as an intern at Tata Power Thermal Power Station, Trombay. It was an On-campus opportunity. The duration for the internship was 30 days.

COMPANY OVERVIEW :

Tata Power Thermal Power Station is a coal-based thermal power plant. It is in Trombay near Mumbai, Maharashtra. This power plant is owned by TATA Power. Power station converts heat energy to electricity. This plant provides power to the majority of consumers in Mumbai. It ensures continuous power supply in Mumbai. The plant size is 930MW.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• I studied working in the thermal power plant.
• I studied the switchyard and its use case.
• I also had a deep understanding of transformers and turbo-generators.

PROS:

1) SUPPORTIVE: The team and the people there were very supportive and they helped me a lot.

2) GUIDANCE: My manager guided me from the first day in the right direction. He told me about the do’s and don’ts in the power plant and explained everything with patience.

The most important thing I learned here is proactiveness. When I joined, I had to keep asking for new tasks as all my colleagues were already settled in the company and they knew what to do. But gradually I settled into my role and got in sync with my colleagues. I started contributing without the help of anyone.

The experience I gained here was amazing. It was my first time going to a Power Plant and witnessing these things. I learned a lot about the machines and the mechanism behind their work. I am sure this experience will enlighten my future.
