Internship 1. If you are an Indian citizen then you have to clear the JEE Main Examination for pursuing B.tech in this college. 2. After clearing the JEE Mains exam through JOSAA under the NIT category, you can get admission to IIEST. Admissions are done on the basis of JOSAA counseling only. 3. If you are an SC/ST or PWD candidate, you don’t need to do anything; you get a full tuition fee waiver for your whole course duration. For a General/General-EWS/OBC candidate, you have to produce your (parent’s) income certificate. If your Income is less than 1 Lakh in a year, then you get a full tuition fee waiver. If your Income is more than 1 Lakh but less than 5 Lakhs in a year, then you get a waiver of 2/3 of the Tuition fee. 4. The process is good. Course Curriculum Overview: I chose this course because of the great placements in Computer Science and Technology at this Institute. Talking about the faculty, the student-to-faculty ratio is 1:25. Most of the teachers are cool, some strict, but all are helpful and well-qualified, with almost everyone holding a Ph.D. Talking about the teaching quality, most of them are next-level (mark my word). Exams are of 45 minutes (mid-semester) and 1h30min (end-semester). The exams are more or less at a good level. Internship Opportunities: Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Oracle, PwC, Wells Fargo, CESC, Deutsche Bank, and many more MNCs provide internships. The majority of internship stipends range between 40-45 thousand per month. (CST) Most of the roles are software developer, software engineer, and many more. Placement Experience: I am from the Computer Science and Technology branch (2021-25). Talking about the placement percentage of the 2022 batch of my branch, the present scenario is that 69 out of 71 eligible students already got placed at the beginning of the 7th semester. Still, almost 8-10 months are left for placement sessions. Now, only 1-2 students are left as per the official data provided on their official FB page. Based on that, I can say that (97-98)% of students get placed. And as per my knowledge, this year is a 100% placement of the CST branch (my branch). Highest Package: 52.57 LPA (on-campus) (3 students from my branch and other students from IT, ETC branches too). Lowest Package: 4 LPA (only 2-3 students) (Remember, placement is ongoing, so they may get higher packages in the upcoming days as their peers do). Average Package: 17 LPA (approx) (boom! It’s amazing and record-breaking). Top Companies (on-campus): Google (this year), Microsoft (9), Atlassian (4), Amazon (4), Samsung (21), Mercedes Benz (3), Wells Fargo (9), Deutsche Bank (9), etc. Loan/Scholarship Provisions: Talking about the fee structure, it’s almost ₹200,000 per year, the same as most of the NITs have. If you belong to the SC/ST or PWD category, then you get a full tuition fee waiver; no need to provide an Income certificate. For General/General-EWS/OBC candidates, you have to provide your income certificate for tuition fee waivers. If your Income is less than 1 Lakh, you get a full tuition fee waiver. If your Income is more than 1 Lakh but less than 5 Lakhs, you get a 2/3 tuition fee waiver. There are plenty of scholarships available from the state government, as well as the central government, and the institute provides some too, such as GAA-BESU, Vivekananda Youth Club, ASCE, and many more. Campus Life: Life on Campus is next-level. The campus is Emotion. Social life is too much motivated and positively encouraging. There are N number of Clubs, and most of them are highly active, such as Reflexobeta, Code IIEST, DSC IIEST, EDC, and many more. The infrastructure needs modification, or there is a hostel shortage. The annual fest is named REBECA (Best Annual Fest in the whole of Kolkata). There are N numbers of Books and Journals in the library, as you can imagine, as it’s the 2nd oldest engineering college in India. All the basic amenities needed in the classroom are available, such as AC classrooms and many more. The college is highly active in sports and curricular activities, but due to the online mode now, they are unavailable. The clubs run by students are Code IIEST, DSC IIEST, and many more. Hostel Facilities: The hostels are good to live in, and they have now been renovated, so the hostels are great, but the number of hostels is limited. You get all the basic facilities that any hostel must have, such as washing machines, TV rooms, sports rooms, and many more. Talking about the meal quality, it is on the better to best side. For non-vegetarians, it’s pretty awesome. The mess contains breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For hostel accommodation, you have to email the registered email ID of the Chief Warden. The hostels are very affordable compared to other NITs. You can easily get rented rooms near the college in Shibpur, Howrah. Hostel Fee: INR 70,000 per year. |
