How to Upload Documents into DigiLocker?

DigiLocker provides a secure and convenient way to store and manage your digital documents. This guide will walk you through the process of uploading your own documents onto the platform.

There can be two types of documents that can be added to the DigiLocker Account i.e. Issued Documents and Uploaded Documents.

Issued Documents

Uploaded Documents

These are electronic documents (e-documents) directly fetched from various government agencies. They come in a pre-formatted digital format and cannot be edited by users. Examples include PAN cards, driving licenses, and educational certificates. You’ll find these documents under the “Issued Documents” section of your DigiLocker.

You, the user, upload these documents directly onto your DigiLocker account. These can be scanned copies of physical documents, personal certificates, or any other document you wish to keep electronically secure. You’ll find them under the “Uploaded Documents” section.

What Type of Files Can you Upload?

DigiLocker currently accepts the following file formats:

  • PDF (Portable Document Format)
  • JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)
  • PNG (Portable Network Graphics)

Maximum file size you can upload

Each uploaded document cannot exceed 10MB.

Steps to Upload Your Documents

  1. Log in to your DigiLocker account.
  2. Navigate to the “Uploaded Documents” section.
  3. Click the upload icon (usually a plus sign or an upward arrow).
  4. In the file upload window, locate the desired document on your device.
  5. Select the file and click “Open”.
  6. You can edit the document name using the edit icon next to the filename (optional).
  7. Click “Save”.

Your document will now be uploaded and securely stored in your DigiLocker under the “Uploaded Documents” section. You can access, share, or download these documents anytime through your account.

Additional Notes:

  • Ensure the documents you upload are clear, scanned copies or digital files in the accepted formats.
  • Remember, uploading documents to DigiLocker doesn’t replace the need for original physical documents.
  • It’s recommended to maintain backups of your original documents in addition to storing them on DigiLocker.

By following these simple steps, you can efficiently upload your essential documents to your DigiLocker account, leveraging the platform’s secure storage and convenient accessibility features.
