Deutsche Bank’s summer internship interview process was:

The coding round with 10 MCQs and 2 coding questions was considered medium level on coding platforms, with one-bit manipulation and one dynamic programming question. Post that was the interview, consisting of a Technical round, HR round, and Professional Fitment round. It was an On-Campus process.

The Technical round progressed fairly easily for me. Several questions were based on Java and OOPS. The interviewer got a little in-depth, asking me to analyze different data structures along with their memory implementation in Java, and how different Java was from C++, including an explanation of JVM and JIT. He offered scenarios and asked me to identify the right type of data structure to be used for each, along with sound reasoning as to why. OOPS concepts were kept general, he asked me about different paradigms and how they were implemented in Java. I was only asked a couple of DSA questions, and they were easy- medium-level. My interviewer asked me if I had experience with Spring, and I said I didn’t, so he refrained from asking questions about it.

Besides this, I was asked about the projects I had listed on my resume and was asked to write the code for one of the projects on paper, briefly. The interviewer asked me about DBMS concepts at an elementary level and asked me about queries in SQL, the characteristics of SQL, and its components. OS concepts were also asked at a basic level. Nothing much was asked from networking.

My interviewer also asked me if I had any questions, and I asked about what his day looked like in his role. I also noted out loud to him that he seemed very familiar with Java, and asked him a question about the changing landscape in IT and how it translated to a Bank.

Overall, I had a very positive experience.
