Nutanix came to Techno India University for a System Reliability Role internship. I am writing this article so that anyone preparing for the SRE role will find it helpful.

NOTE

This is a non-coding role. So, for a person who is not familiar with data structures and algorithms and does not like coding, this role may be the best fit for you.

TOPICS

The topics that were asked during the interview process were as follows :

• Computer Networks
• Linux
• Operating Systems
• Cloud Computing
• Virtualization
• Basic hardware

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS (1st round)

A mcq round was conducted . The mcq round was conducted in Hackerrank , 60 questions in 70 minutes were asked. The topics were included from all the topics mentioned above : protocols, IPV4, IPV6, full forms , linux commands , true/ false , structure of OS , basic questions of hardware.

You can refer to Sanfoundary and Interviewbit website for mcq questions and references. This websites helped me a lot to clear this round .

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW-1 (2nd round)

• The second interview round was a technical round . This round was went off very smoothly and I would consider this as one of my best interview rounds . The interviewer was quite friendly . At first, he asked me to give a self introduction and about my hobbies.
• Then , he asked me basic questions of OS systems . He asked me to explain the CPU scheduling processes and its applications and some basic full forms and true/false.
• From Computer networks , he asked me about the OSI model and summary of each layer present in it. He also asked me some of the situation based and application related questions like, how data and signalling takes place and MAC address and Physical differs and couple of full forms.
• From linux, he asked some basic linux commands and it functions.

This round went about for 1 hour.

NOTE: Try to keep your effective and concise and feel free to asked your interviewer if you have any doubts related to the questions he asked.

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW-2 (3rd round)

This was the second technical round. This was the second last round. In this interview the questions asked was from medium to hard level.

• Firstly, he asked me questions based on resume and asked some questions like – why did you choose this company and why did you choose SRE role.
• He asked questions based on COMPUTER NETWORKS. He asked situation based and application based questions. He also asked questions about OSI Model and it’s layers but be mainly asked questions on its applications.
• From linux, he asked me some linux commands and full forms.

Please go through the network situation and application questions a lot in the technocal rounds.

This round went about for 45 minutes.

HR ROUND ( 4th round)

This was the final interview round conducted by the HR. This round was kinda a behavioral round and questions were mainly asked about your self introduction and behavioral questions were asked and someExplanatory questions.

He asked me questions like why are you applying for SRE role and not for a SDE role.

Try to maintain a calm composure during the process as you will be judged based on your personality.

Same , they will ask some situation based questions not necessarily from any syllabus .

They want to know how honest and humbe you are .

Try to answer all the questions confidently and feel free to asked questions to the interviewer about your doubts.

RESULTS

Unfortunately, I was not selected and was disqualified at the last round . The reason being my resume was development based and at the last round I did mess up some questions and was unable to answer some situation based questions .

Only 2 candidates were selected.

TIPS

• If you are more interested in coding and ds algo then you might not find this role interesting
• Practice mcq and interview questions from Sanfoundary and Interviewbit . You may get some questions in common.
• Practice situation based questions , they were asked in every round.
• I also refered to GATE SMASHERS – Youtube for the better understanding of the concepts.
• Research as about the company as they might ask you questions on that (depends on the interviewer).

CONCLUSION

This was my interview experience . I shared about my preperation and my interview process for the SRE role. I think thi s article will be of some help to the students those who are preparing for the role.
