Write a short note on: What is meant by Lateral Inversion

Lateral inversion is a concept related to the way objects appear when they are reflected in a mirror. It refers to the phenomenon where the left and right sides of an object appear reversed or switched when viewed in a mirror.

For instance, if you raise your right hand in front of a mirror, the image you see will show the hand on the left side of the mirror, creating the illusion that it’s your left hand. This effect occurs because mirrors reverse the direction of light rays. When you view an object in a mirror, it seems as if you’ve swapped places with your reflected image, causing the lateral inversion.

Lateral inversion is a fundamental principle in optics and plays a crucial role in understanding how mirrors work and how our brains interpret the reflected images we see in them.
