StoneX Interview Experience for QA Intern

I recently had an interview with StoneX for a QA Intern position, and I would like to share my experience to help future candidates. The process consisted of two rounds.

Round 1: Online Test (90 minutes)

The first round was an online test that included several sections:

  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs): 15 questions covering various topics.
  • Coding Questions: 2 problems to solve:
    1. Determine the number of parentheses required to balance a given list of parentheses.
    2. Given a list of strings and a list of queries (each specifying a start and end index), count the number of strings within this range that start and end with vowels.
  • Reading Comprehension: 2 passages with questions to assess comprehension skills.
  • Reasoning & Data Interpretation: 3 questions focusing on logical reasoning and data interpretation.
  • Probability & Ratios: 6 questions testing knowledge in these areas.

The coding section was particularly interesting. The first problem tested my understanding of stack operations for balancing parentheses, while the second required me to efficiently count strings that both start and end with vowels within specified index ranges, combining string manipulation and query processing.

Round 2: Technical Interview (20 minutes)

The second round was a technical interview lasting around 20 minutes. The interviewer began by asking me to introduce myself and inquired about my favorite subject. I mentioned Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), which led to a discussion where I explained the Huffman Algorithm, related to one of my projects.

The interviewer then asked several questions about my projects, particularly focusing on how I tested them, given the QA role. Additionally, he posed some Java OOP questions, covering topics like multiple inheritance, interfaces, and the differences between abstraction and encapsulation.

At the end of the interview, I had the opportunity to ask questions. I inquired about opportunities at StoneX and whether there was a possibility to switch domains to cloud computing in the future.

Outcome

Unfortunately, I was not selected for the next round. There was supposed to be a third HR round for those who passed the technical interview to receive an offer.

Overall, the experience was quite insightful. For future candidates, I recommend preparing thoroughly on your favorite subjects and being ready to discuss your projects in detail, especially focusing on testing and QA aspects.

Good luck to everyone preparing for their StoneX interview!
