SAP Interview Experience for Scholar Program (2024)

Interview Process Overview

There are basically four rounds:

  1. Coding Assessment
  2. Interview Round (Tech 1)
  3. Interview Round (Tech 2)
  4. HR Round

I applied through my college, Rungta College of Engineering & Technology, Kohka-Kurud Bhilai. A total of 122 students registered for the drive, and after the coding assessment round, only 24 students remained. The questions primarily focused on strings, arrays, and some mathematical problems. Among the 24 students, I was one.

On July 29, SAP conducted both interview rounds 1 and 2.

Round 1

In the first round, the interviewer (a female) and I introduced ourselves. After the introduction, she asked questions about data structures:

  1. Find the missing number in an array with O(n) time complexity.
  2. Design a simple LinkedList and print it.
  3. Detect a cycle in a LinkedList.

After the DSA coding questions, she inquired about core computer fundamentals, such as:

  1. Define Normalization and its normal forms in one minute.
  2. Scheduling algorithms in OS.
  3. OOP concepts in brief, including the implementation of abstract classes and interfaces with examples.
  4. SQL Queries: ORDER BY, GROUP BY, and writing some queries on the spot.
  5. The last question was a puzzle: “3 switches and 1 bulb.”

I was able to answer all of them, and my first interview round went well. The results were published at 2 PM on the same day, and I felt confident about this round.

I received an email at 1:25 PM inviting me to the second interview round. Out of 24 students, only 5-6 from our college were selected for the first interview round, and I was one of them.

Round 2

I joined the second round of the interview at around 2 PM. The interviewer (a female) introduced herself as a product manager with four years of experience. I was a little nervous at this point. She asked me to introduce myself, and I did so similarly to the first interview round.

After that, she asked me one SQL query, which I was able to answer. Then she started asking situation-based questions, such as: “You’re an employee at a company assigned a task that will probably take 7 days, but the stakeholder wants it completed in 2 days. What’s your approach?”

After 13 minutes, the interviewer said she was done and asked if I had any questions. I inquired about feedback on the interview, and she mentioned she would share it soon.

Unfortunately, I later received an email stating, “Thank you for your interest in SAP.” I don’t believe I made any mistakes, but I was not selected. After the second round, only 3-4 students were selected for the next HR round, and ultimately, three were chosen:
