SLIET Campus Experience as B.Tech CSE

Hello, everyone. I am a 3rd-year student majoring in Computer Science and Engineering at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET). Based on my experience of three years, I would describe SLIET as an average college with decent facilities. It serves as a good option among private institutes, especially if you’re not securing a seat in NIT or other GFTIs. However, there are some aspects you should be aware of before making your decision.

The overall environment at SLIET can be quite dull and non-competitive. Due to its remote location, the campus doesn’t attract many companies for placements, which can be a significant drawback if you’re relying heavily on on-campus recruitment. The campus life lacks the vibrant and dynamic atmosphere found in more urban or well-connected institutes.

Admission intake of SLIET is through jee mains & Diploma exam. There is a segregation between jee mains & diploma promoted students. A majority of students can be seen attending classes for managing 75% attendance only. There is no pressure to attend classes in most of the branches baring a few.

If you’re looking at placement statistics, you might find SLIET somewhat disappointing. The number of companies visiting the campus for recruitment is limited, largely due to the institute’s remote location. This means that students often need to seek out off-campus opportunities, which requires a high degree of self-motivation and initiative.

Despite these challenges, SLIET can be a suitable choice if you’re seeking a pocket-friendly, low-budget institute. The cost of living and tuition fees are relatively low compared to other institutions. This financial aspect can be a significant advantage for students from various economic backgrounds. Given the relatively relaxed academic pressure, you have plenty of time for self-preparation. This can be beneficial if you are self-motivated and have a positive attitude towards independent study and skill development.

In conclusion, SLIET welcomes students with open arms but also closed doors, indicating that while the institution provides the basic framework, a lot of your success will depend on your initiative and drive. Overall, I can recommend joining SLIET if you are a self-motivated person with a positive attitude.
